This started as a short trip but got way longer. First Dennis took us to Rudy Pass, and just off to the west was a mound of quartz and then a little further was a mine entrance.

| Karen took a picture of this curious quartz line. |
Close Up. Is there gold ? |

| Mine entrance. |
Too bad the gold ran out so fast. |

From here we went through Rudy Pass and east to the crystal area. |

Crystal Deposits. |

From the crystal we ventured over to the location of what once was a 50' saguaro cactus. |
| This how it looked. Probably 200 years old. |
Sad to say but everything has a life span. |

| Here's the gang around the carcass. |
Collecting "saguaro boots" from the dead cactus. These are created when a bird makes a nest in the cactus and the cactus heals over the wound.

Time for lunch.

Circle the wagons. |

| From there we ventured on the Tres Alamas Spring, a grueling ride down the Date Creek wash in soft sand. |
Here we are.

Here's the gang heading to the falls. It is totally dry ! |

| Short trip turned into over 60 miles ! |
