The Great Adventures of the Yamaha Viking VI
03-May-21

Group:
  1. Yamaha Viking VI: Gary and Gnettie Eisert, Dave & Denise Munday
  2. Polaris 2 Seater: Mike and Debby Gruenthaner
This is the first time we trailered the Yamaha. We took it to the staging area to go up to the Solar Observatory.
Loaded on Mark & Greta's trailer. Thank you Mark and Greta ! No pictures going up the hill, instead here is a video of the first 19 minutes. The camera shut down after 20 minutes.

At the top

Wind Sock for Helicopter Microwave Antennas

The Yamaha made it to the top traversing the worst rocky road I have ever seen. With ice cream and milk we could have had milk shakes on the way up. The girls in the back said Dave & I looked like bobble heads the whole ascent. Dave & Denise

Stone Cabin
We headed back down and ended up at the Monterey Mine with the little stone cabin.
This is the Monterey Mine's little stone cabin area. Copper and Gold. 33.769265 ° -113.328523 °
The road to the right leads up the hill to the mine itself. Never did try to go up to it. Time for another adventure at a later date.
You have to get your picture taken through the cabin window. Getting setup for lunch.

Snowball Mine
We headed to the Snow Ball mine, but saw nothing along the road. On the way back Mike spotted a road up a major incline and then we found it. Mike & Debbie looking over the tailings. The tailings looked rich in silver. This is one of the only mines we have seen evidence of rich ore.

Dave out exploring. Huge pipes were embedded in the ground to brace whatever device was used to haul out the ore. Denise, Mike & Debbie

Denise & Dave More tailings in the distance.

Mike & Debbie Mine
We were heading to the Alaska Mine when Mike suddenly turned south and up a long hill. I didn't take the Yamaha up because I was afraid I couldn't get the longer rig turned around. Mike and Debbie took these pictures. For fear of vandalism I am not going to show it on a map.
Kind of looks uninteresting, huh ? On taking a closer look, it has a well made iron gate. The entrance has been sealed on the sides with rocks and mortor. Wonder why it is unlocked and open ?

After looking inside, they discovered a mine intact that has not been vandalized ! WOW ! We'll be going back to explore, but we'll leave everything as we found it.

Alaska Mine

Across from the wash are more openings. Remnants of a bygone era. This must have been a busy area back then. Makes a person wonder what miners went through just so you can wear some gold.

Down the wash and around the corner this entrance can be found. Windmill across from the mine area.

How is this possible ?
