This was planned to be a long trip to Mike and Debbie's real claim, the Scott Mine, near Belmont mountain. It took us a few hours to go the 35 miles to the mine, but the scenery was well worth the trip. |

Our first stop was a low Saguaro branch in bloom.
|
Here is Gnettie touching the bloom which turned out to be very stiff. It is not a soft flower like you would think. Mike is standing by making sure the girls don't fall off the UTV.

The trip was down a long narrow wash with a lot of washed out roads. I put the Yamaha was in 4 wheel drive the whole way. Don't you wonder how something like this gets created.
|
I forgot to get more pictures of the Scott Mine. It has 2 main deep shafts and a tunnel leading in from the wash. The tunnel is caved in so it was impossible to get through.

We then made a trip around the Belmont Mine. The whole area is riddled with tunnels and shafts. |

Our next stop was the old Tonapah well, but no longer water anywhere. |
Looks a little dry, huh ? |
