The Great Adventures of the Yamaha Viking VI
21-May-21

Group:
  1. Yamaha Viking VI: Gary and Gnettie Eisert
  2. Polaris 2 Seater: Mike & Debbie Gruenthaner
This was planned to be a long trip to Mike and Debbie's real claim, the Scott Mine, near Belmont mountain. It took us a few hours to go the 35 miles to the mine, but the scenery was well worth the trip.

Our first stop was a low Saguaro branch in bloom. Here is Gnettie touching the bloom which turned out to be very stiff. It is not a soft flower like you would think.
Mike is standing by making sure the girls don't fall off the UTV.

Debbie and Gnettie. Debbie checking out the bloom.

The trip was down a long narrow wash with a lot of washed out roads. I put the Yamaha was in 4 wheel drive the whole way.
Don't you wonder how something like this gets created.
I forgot to get more pictures of the Scott Mine. It has 2 main deep shafts and a tunnel leading in from the wash. The tunnel is caved in so it was impossible to get through.

We then made a trip around the Belmont Mine. The whole area is riddled with tunnels and shafts.
An explosive shed, abandoned years ago. Debbie looking down from above.

Our next stop was the old Tonapah well, but no longer water anywhere. Looks a little dry, huh ?

Mike looking over the dry tank Mountains nearby.

Nothing left but a few cement foundations.

All that's left of the Belmont Mine.
