Sherwood and I ventured off to the Stone Cabins, then the Purple Pansy Mine, then explored the Lava Deposits along the south road, the deep pit and the Black Diamond Mine.

We've been to the Purple Pansy Mine a bunch of times. It seems to be the "go to" place for first time visitors to the desert. So for this trip I decided to show an aerial view of the mine.
Parts of it are still active. 33° 45'54.97" N 113° 07'39.89" W

| Large black lava rock deposits that came out of this deep hole.

| The road into the pit. |
Down in the deep hole. |

 |
| This mine entrance is right next to the road. |
With all that shoring it must have been a deep shaft. I suspect the shaft was sealed with large beams and the floor filled in. Super dangerous to go in as the floor may collapse. |

| Another mine shaft. |
Quartz chippings everywhere !

 |
| Algae growing on the rocks. Everywhere you turn is another sight to see. |
All that's left of the Black Diamond mine.
