This was a great trip. First we explored 2 areas to collect Apache Tears. One area Mike knew of the other Dennis had found years ago. Dennis then took us to an airplane crash sight where we could still pick up pieces of the wreckage.
Then after lunch, Mike led us around Black Butte mountain which is a true off road, treacherous trail.
Holy crap ! Something big ate a whole coyote. This is all that was left.
We went to the Apache Tears hunting area which is in Dead Horse wash. You have to chip them out of hard rock. Most of them get damaged when collecting them that way.
Dennis then lead us around and up the hill just south of the wash collection area and we found Apache Tears just laying on the ground. Sorry no pictures.
From the apache tears site we ventured over to an airplane crash site.
This is the F-80 that crashed. Tail #669
The road into the crash site.
A concentration of parts.
Lynn and Jan Goos collecting artifacts.
Exploring the debris field. Bits of aluminum are everywhere. She must have hit hard.
A cool video of the road that loops around Black Butte
